Started working on the Reunion Quilt... Moving along rather nicely.............. Second bobbin ran out and I looked at the back.......... Not what I wanted to see........
Picked it all out....... Then noticed the stitching on the first bobbin......... No way I would want my name on something that looked that bad.....
Picked it all out...... Now to start again.......
We feed the ducks in our area....... Love the Ducks...... Two sections of our yard we can't mow now because the ducks are nesting.........
The Canadian Geese, not so much.......... So this morning I look out and what do I see....... Mama and Papa and three baby GEESE............ Oh well, we are all God's children.................

Good Morning...
I finally got a few good pictures...... Saw the ducks relaxing on the berm after eating their breakfast......
This is a close up of the center duck....... She has her little duckling with her... There were two but only one is left now....
I also got this picture of the Hummingbirds sharing breakfast.........
This is my famous Pin Oak..... I plucked the seedling from a flower bed at a rest area in Virginia.....That was 2011....... It lived in a zip lock bag until the spring of 2012..... Finally got it planted....... Isn't it lovely......
Now here is the Pecan tree gifted to me by a friend..... I hope is grows as well.........
While I am waiting for my quilting foot to arrive I began another bag...... I am going to add pockets to the inside of this one.......
And make this wee purse to go with it............
Now off to sew for an hour and then start on the list.........

Finally.....
I have been looking at these blocks for long enough... I hope I have them right now....... If you see anything that needs to be moved please advise........
This is for a friend......... She made the blocks and then brought it all to me in the box shown below... The blocks are not the same size and the larger ones cannot be trimmed any more.......
The small blocks I thought I would start in the top left corner and bring half of them down the left side. The other half will start at the bottom right and go up.....
This is what is left........ Including the interfacing.......... At this time I plan to sash each block to make them the all the same size........ If you think of a better plan please tell me...........

Beginnings and Endings.
Yard work began on Monday and we are moving right along.....Jason is adding a longer pipe for the drain on the heat pump........We are going to put a lattice brick wall around it and he wants to make sure it can drain....... So nice to have someone think of these things.......
Hope that it will all be done by the end of the week...........
Quilt to hand piece with Susan is all cut out.........
Bag completed........... It was so easy and so much fun..... I am going to make the handles shorter on the next ones..... This one is a shoulder bag and the next ones will not be......
Already selected the charms for the next two..............
Prepped one block for Rebekah but need to get the other eight done.........
Kool Ties complete......... Already given away four of them..............
I need to be quilting the quilt for the reunion but even though I have two machines I can not find the quilting foot for either one of them......... Seems like every time I organize the studio I lose something important....

This Holiday Weekend....
Monday we began work on the yard....... We made the decision to have some one come and get the beds in place so that I could maintain it easier.... It is getting to the point that I do not like to leave Lem alone even while I am working in the yard and he wants so much to help and I do not want him to get hurt while trying......
Jason found someone that would fill the bill and do what we needed..........
He started here and has worked when possible this week...... We are really moving along with this project and should be finished soon.........
Having a project with an upcoming deadline I went back to my usual method of operation and began three other projects BEFORE finishing the one with a deadline...... I suppose I do like to work under pressure.........
Saw this cute bag on Pinterest yesterday and it was a tutorial from Missouri Quilt Company.....
Got out the squares from the most recent swap and picked these out..... I can see that one needs to be replaced..... A picture is helpful in seeing things like this............
Susan and I are going to hand piece a quilt together........ I am cutting out my fabric and will mark it for stitching..... A nice little Carry With You project........
Started these Kool Ties in 2011...... The landscaper needed them earlier this week... I got them out this week to finish............ They are on top of the quilt that needs to be quilted...........
Lovely weekend ahead....... Especially since I have my MRE's (meals ready to eat) in the freezer...
What are your plans..........

As Time Goes By
Wow........ I didn't realize it had been so long since I blogged..........
Now that I am on the "Visit the Doctor" treadmill again time seems to just slip away........
Made this coconut cream pie from the recipe on the coconut pudding mix box....... Really is good... I added a handful more coconut to the pudding and toasted coconut to put on top..... Sure do wish I had one now.........
The Guild had their party last Wednesday........ One of the neighbors stayed with my charges so that I could attend....... It was simply wonderful.....
We were each given a plant.. (my friend gave me hers)........ And another friend brought me a Pecan Tree...... Sure do hope I can keep it alive..............
In between events I have been cleaning the studio....... I am trying to only have in here what is on the list... Sure isn't easy for me.... Things seem to wander in during the night and take root..........
Moved the plastic drawer units and put them back under the table........ Trying to make the room look bigger.....
Cleared off the sewing table and the shelf above it...... That table will be painted this year if all goes well.....
Started putting ornaments on the shelf over the door.... Still working on that one...... You can see the list on the doors......
Moved the computer to a table in front of the door..... The door that opens is not blocked..... There is still a method of escape.........
This is what is left........... Hmmm.... Considering all the appointments next week it will still need clearing next week at this time.............
Lovely view......... I do so enjoy my studio..... When I can be in it..........

Design Wall Monday
Judy at Patchwork Times has lots of lovely things to view..... HERE... Here is my offering......
Red and white quilt top is finished and now to baste it...... Hope to start quilting on Wednesday............
Need to get this finished because there are other things that need to be done...........
Eight of the thirteen rows on GFG are completed...........
Five more left to do...... They will take longer because the last three rows have no blocks already quilted....
I do hope to get it done before it gets too hot......

Busy Day
Yesterday started off with a trip to the groomer........ We took all four dogs for a day of beauty......
I was able to sew a bit but not as much as I wanted to...... It was rainy and overcast so it was a good day to sew........ After doing a few things that were necessary (laundry-dishes-etc.) I went back to the studio... I had just gotten started when she called to say the dogs were ready...... Rushed back to Kinston for them, stopped for hot dogs for lunch on the way home......
After lunch it was time for my NAP......... I try to take one everyday..........
Went back to the studio for a bit more sewing.........
Wade (in front) and Precious (in back) snuggled with Lem in his chair.........
Got a shirt finished for Wade.........
And one finished for Precious..... She would not let me fasten it on the bottom.....
Finished a third one for Wade............ Only one left to assemble but I am out of lace....... I ordered more and it should be on the way soon...........
Next to concentrate on the Reunion Quilt..............

A couple more things done....
The Knit Whitz met here yesterday....... I got all the vacuuming and dusting done and our refreshments made.....
Two boxes packed and ready for Donna to take to Kathy.........
And I finished Maggie's shirt........... Maggie is a black dog and Donna sometimes can't see her against the burgundy carpet......... I made her a white coat in the hopes it will help.........
This morning I finished Wade's new spring shirt....
Next I cut out two shirts for Precious using the fabric I purchased the last time I was at JoAnn's....
And two shirts for Wade.............
Taking Rebekah to the Dr. this afternoon so maybe I can assemble them tomorrow.............

Design Wall Monday
At long last I have something on the design wall....... Now I can join Judy and friends at Patchwork Times..
You can go HERE to see what others around the world are doing.....
As for me I have excavated a quilt that was begun many moons ago........ I was asked to donate a quilt for an auction at my class reunion...... Our colors were red and white so I searched for this top...... Can't find the pattern or the scraps right now and I want to add a couple of borders....... The red is one I had already and as you can see it will not work........ I will have to search more........ I am sure there must be something here I can use............ I will go upstairs and look.........
I also finished all 36 wallets for the Guild party......
And the two bags I was asked to make for the Guild....... We give them to the Red Cross for them to use to hand out things..........
Now back to the smocking........ Have a great week.......

A Happy Ending...
Hurray....... Eighteen are done....... That is half way............. Only eighteen more snaps to sew on.....
Worked on them a bit yesterday but did not finish...... Well, that is another story that will be at then end of this post.....
Started making the two bags I need for the Guild......... One is close to being finished.......
Stopped to help Lem with his shower and to a head start on the dinner I was planning......
There was a pork roast on sale at Food Lion......I always check their meat counter..... If something is close to the sale by date it is marked down....... I got a three pound pork roast for five dollars...... I either freeze the meat immediately using my food saver or cook it right away....... Decided to cook the pork roast.....
Found a recipe on Mr Food (HERE)...
It was for cranberry glazed pork roast......... Delicious...... Several meals there and it would already be cooked......... I got a package of sweet potatoes out of the freezer and fixed a casserole..... Opened a can of collards. Put them in a small casserole dish and I could get dinner finished in 20 minutes... Then went out to mow the yard......
The golf cart is parked behind the lawnmower because we use it more...... Till this year........ We have a flat tire and the linkage is slipping so it does not always go......... I pulled it out of the garage to mow the grass...
Got the grass cut and decided to put the golf cart in first....... It would not go..... Tried to push..... Hard to do with a flat tire.......... Called Jason and asked it he would stop by to give me a hand........or maybe a push.
He stopped by and sat for awhile till Kim got home from work......... Rebekah called and asked if she could come over.......Rebekah arrived, Kim stopped by and I suggested we all try that pork roast.......
Opened another can of collards, put biscuits in the oven and we had a wonderful family meal.......
Impromptu gatherings seem to be the best.........

Works in Progress
I was supposed to work on this project last winter but it seemed to take a back seat to other adventures..........
Decided to make it my Major Project and worked on it daily till other deadlines loomed ahead....
I report that four rows are completely quilted including the border......
With only 9 rows left to do........ Thankfully a good portion of the center is done and I only have 32 blocks left to quilt and the border of course...
Right now that is put aside and I need to finish this red and white quilt....... My high school class is having a reunion in June and they have and auction... Someone asked if I would make a quilt...... Little do they understand the number of hours there is in making a quilt.....
I remembered putting this to one side some time ago and realized that it was almost complete.... Just needed to assemble the rows and quilt it......... Since our colors were red and white it is most appropriate...
Found it this morning and it will be the Studio project of the week..... Looking forward to a finish in the near future..........
The hand work in the family room is finishing the wallets.......... I used the pattern that Hanne uses and it is much easier to assemble than the other wallet I usually make. Realized that I will not have enough snaps so I will be digging around in my stash for a few more.........I am sure I can find something that will work....
On another note........ Marilyn took a picture of the eggs laid in her flower bed by the ducks we feed.....
There are 31 of them......... Maybe the hawks won't get them all this year.............
Now off to get those rows assembled...........
