Well, here I am once again posting Wednesday's flowers on Thursday. I just can't keep up sometimes. I keep reminding myself that this is not a contest.
I have some Hexies all ready to become flowers. I have enough sewn or prepped for the blue and white strips for my table runner.
These are the latest finished flowers I made... Now to get them sewn together and ready to put the blue and brown flowers in between them........... I might get this finished soon.
This is for my sister.......... We had a discussion today about tables and I promised her a picture of the Maple Table........ My grandfather made this one...... Great end table and the drawers hold knitting or whatever I am working on at the time......
This is the Thangles 2010 BOM. I got the sashing cut and placed....... Now to sew them together and make the Friendship Stars that are the cornerstones..........
Tomorrow I will finish packing the living room and I might even get some sewing done.
Yesterday afternoon I slipped upstairs long enough to finish the last of the blocks for 2010 Thangles BOM................ I also purchased the finishing kit to go with this quilt and I might even find some time to get the sashing made and the corner stones done.
Today will find me finishing the packing in the family room............. I am packing all the things that will go into storage first. That will leave the lamps and such that will have to be packed last. It will be good to have one room completed..............
I thought I would whip up a batch of sugar cookies for St. Patrick's day.......
And finish a hat and mitten set in honor of the Day..............
Dave Nichols, our moving representative came by to get the signed contract...............
And to bring moving boxes.............. I set up a table in the guest room downstairs and I will be packing in there....... Since I had so many gift boxes I thought I would use them to hold the fragile tchatkeys from around the house.............
Lem has already taken the pictures off the walls.......................
Now to get these boxes filled and ready to go................
On Monday, Judy at Patchwork Times hosts Design Wall Monday.
Today I actually have something different on my design wall.
Four blocks of sixteen are complete from my JANUARY MONOCHROMATIC QUILT CHALLENGE.
And the February blocks are complete for the Thangles BOM that I signed up for this year.
This is not the final placement. That will be decided when the other twelve blocks are complete.
No, I have not finished the Thangles quilt from 2009 or 2010 but I have started 2011. Who knows I could finish them all this year........... Time will tell.
Thank you Judy for this opportunity to share. You can go HERE to see what others are up to these days.
I got my eight Hexagons finished on Wednesday but never got them posted....... If all goes as planned I will have the eight mug mats finished this weekend.......................
This is the fabric I selected for the Mug Mats I want to make..............
I thought this might be a good layout.............
And then I tried this one........... I really like it best.......
I cut the hexagons I needed for the number of mug mats I wanted to make and have them ready to make..........
Then it was time to come downstairs and finish cooking supper..... The Chicken Pastry was excellent............. Lem and I both ate too much last night....... Thank you Kim for your help in getting it right this time.............
After dinner I finished another pair of socks.......... That is the third pair I have completed for Lem in the past few weeks. I am still using the first cone of yarn. It looks like I might get four pairs of socks from one cone.......... That brings the price down to $9.00 per pair of wool socks. And I still have another cone........... I will have enough socks to keep Lem's tootsies warm all next winter....................
I had great plans for Saturday. Do a few kitchen chores and then go upstairs to sew all the rest of the day.................
The only problem is that I tend to move slowly these days.......... Since I can I don't rush through things as I did in the past........... Part of the is due to my nemesis...... That also takes hours from me each day.
I did get the bread baked............
and a batch of cookies................
Then off to the grocery store and home in time to cook supper............ Oh well, one day gone. I will sew tomorrow..........
This morning I rolled out pastry. Old North Carolina recipe......... Flour, water and one egg. Roll it out till you can read through it (I keep rolling till I can see the red marking lines for pie crust on my mat). Then place it on the counter to dry................
The chicken is in the crock pot and later I will take all of the meat off the chicken and add it back to the broth. Put it all in a pot on the stove and bring it to a rolling boil. Then cut the pastry in strips and drop it in one at a time.......... DO NOT STIR......... Lem just loves chicken pastry and I rarely cook it.............
I also whipped up a batch of sour dough bread................
I was amazed at how fast I got that job done........... All vacuumed and the spider webs are removed.............
So are the pictures of my STASH.................... This is not to be confused with what is on the second floor in the studio... Most things are in containers are quilts planned and ready to be made.................
More quilts waiting to be made and three totes of flimsies waiting to be quilted.........
The boxes contain my quilting books and such.
This is my knitting stash................
And this is my beading stash..............
Lots of projects all waiting for retirement....... Maybe soon.
No pictures yet today.......... It is raining here and quite dreary. The perfect day to go downstairs to the basement and sweep away the spider webs and get things a bit neater in the nether regions. If possible I will take a few snaps of my snaps..................
Here I am again............a day late.............. I do hope you will think "Better late than never"......
Somehow I managed to finish four hexagons this week.......... It was not easy. Lots going on around here.
Monday was a holiday and some schools were out for the whole week. We have had lots of extra people on the Cape looking for a place to rent in the summer and some folks wanting to buy a house.
We have had eight couples looking at our house this past week............... Whew........ I would get up every morning and make sure all was neat as a pin........... Put out the show towels and put the show bedspread on our bed........ Then we would wait for the time to leave so they could come to look...............
One time we got home and I went to take the show bedspread off the bed and Wade Hamilton followed me. He stopped at the door and stared at the corner where his crate usually sits. ( It had been folded up and put away for the showing.) He then walked over to the spot where it should have been and looked all around......... Poor baby. He thought his home was gone for good but his daddy came in and got it out for him.
We put his basket of toys out of sight for each showing and when we get it out again he carefully checks to make sure that it is all there.
We did get to sit Skaket beach and have lunch a couple of days............. Time will tell. Maybe someone will purchase our home and we can spend the rest of the year in North Carolina.

I wanted to bake cookies before the showing on Sunday but discovered that I was out of brown sugar.... Lem said he would make a run to the store and look what else he returned with........ Just the promise of spring that we needed................
I got the butterscotch nut cookies made and they are the greatest................
I also got the sour dough bread wrapped up and ready to give to a friend on Tuesday. I really liked making the sour dough bread......... Of course there will be no more till Saturday when it is time to feed the dough again.......... It was delicious with the soup I made Sunday night.......
When I went to the store on Saturday there was a manager special by the door. The unsold Valentine bouquets were marked down to $5.00.......... I was pleased to bring them home with me............
While strangers were looking at our house we rode to Rock Harbor to wait........ It has been cold here and the harbor is frozen over. That might look like waves but the surface is solid ice....
This is looking across the harbor toward Eastham.
And this is looking out toward the ocean. In the summer there are fishing boats moored between each of those post on the left............
The ocean was not frozen though I have seen that happen in really cold winters. Sunday it was just the harbor............. And to think in just a few weeks it will warm and the boats will return...

I discovered on Wednesday that I was almost out of yeast.......... I had been wanting the container and measuring spoon from King Arthur Flour for some time and after checking the budget I found that I could order it this week. SAF yeast is the best........ It rises so much better and is so much easier to use...... The measuring spoon is 2 1/2 teaspoons which is one packet of yeast......... Now to find time to make some bread or rolls this weekend.
I also got the sour dough starter (over 250 years old).............. Can you imagine keeping something alive that long?........... I got the crock to keep it in.......... Since Robert and Rebekah got me the Italian Bread pan I can now try a few loaves of that and also make some sourdough bread..........
Someone is looking at the house today and someone else is coming on Sunday. We had the house all clean and shiny from the people that looked at it on Wednesday. That is why I made the bread............ It makes the house smell so good.
This morning I baked some cookies to make it smell inviting. Perhaps this is the year we will sell and move..........Prayers appreciated...............
