The Last Few Days

Finally finished a tablerunner that was pieced two years ago.  It is perfect for the flower benches.....

Last week I started organizing the pantry.....  I have been working on it for ten days now...  Almost complete.  Just one section left...

The question now is "How long will it last?".

I am trying to get things ready for the Christmas baking....... I just hope I have time for Christmas baking.....

Canisters well marked...

Racks for cans...............

and spices.............

This is the last section to be done......

Somehow this picture got added last........  Ready - Set - Bake.....

This and That

Last year when Jean was here she brought a kit of this sampler........  Of course I had to have one for myself. I ordered the needed supplies and it has been marinating for some time.....

I was ready for a change of projects and this one spoke to me..........  I had to start something new.....

Now to stick with it till it is finished........

Today I got a good picture of my boys.........  They enjoyed their time of male bonding.....

Matthew was coming over this afternoon to give me a hand with some clearing out in the studio.....

I rarely show just how bad things can get here........  Here is a picture of the old studio.......  If you don't know what to do with something just put it in that room and close the door.......

While the sewing now takes place in the dining room I still want to get the old studio in good shape....  I am making some smaller quilts in an effort to learn to quilt myself........  I need to use the table that Jason made for me to quilt because the machine drops in and I have a flat surface for quilting...  There were some problems with drag even with the small quilt......

Last week Matthew assembled one bookcase (one left to assemble).  I am slowly bringing the fabric downstairs in order to use it........

Lem had a good lunch today........  Collards, sweet potatoes and BBQ.

Sunday Angie brought two of the three bucket benches made for me by Chuck..........  I had them made to put my plants on in the winter time.......  They are lovely.........

Tomorrow we vote and when we go out that is all I plan to do for that day.........   Maybe Wednesday I will get back on track.

Pattern Testing

I found this online........  The link is in the previous post.......

This is for the Guild Challenge and will be given to the Ronald McDonald house...........

I am not partial to brights but I felt this quilt needed to have lots of cheery colors..........

The blocks are trimmed and sewn together.........

Selected the print for a border and tried it with a white border.........  After several days of viewing I selected the print......  There is enough fabric for the backing..............

Since my stash is coming downstairs where I can get to it easier I am finding lots that I did not remember having........

Last picture is the breakfast room........  Something lovely at which to feast the eyes...........

Today

Spent a good part of the morning looking for the camera............  Seems like I am always looking for something..........

Now this doesn't look to unpleasant to eat does it?  More pureed food for Lem.......  I do want it to look as appetizing as possible........  BBQ, creamed corn and brussel  sprouts...

Now that we have that out of the way let me show you the latest project.........  Other things have to fit in around the edges of working on this but I want to get another quilt on the design wall.  I found the pattern on Pinterest...  (another site you have to stay away from as much as possible as it will eat time if you are not careful and on a timer.)

Finally got the last three seams sewn on this quilt...........  Lem said that he was tired of looking at it..

Here it is.......  Pressed and ready for the quilter.....  The pattern is from Temecula Quilt Co. and can be found here.....

http://temeculaquiltco.blogspot.com/2016/08/patchwork-olympics_21.html

While sorting fabric I found the perfect backing....  Now to get it pressed and ready to go to the quilter.

I finished this quilt for Wyatt.........  All quilted and bound and ready to wash...........  Then
I can give it to Wyatt to keep him warm this winter........

Have a good day.......

Hodge Podge

Several weeks ago I lost the battery charger for my camera....  Updated my phone and got one with a camera......  Takes nice pictures it does BUT I haven't yet figured out how to get them on my computer...... Finally just ordered a new battery charger for the camera..........

Now back to blogging...............

Now that Lem is on pureed food I do my best to make it look as good as possible.......  Lunch was bratwurst, scalloped potatoes, green beans and sliced tomatoes......  Served with a tall glass o sweet tea.

Our neighbor had his sail boat out on the lake this weekend...........

We enjoyed watching him tack up and back on the lake.....

Yesterday I finished quilting the quilt for Wyatt..........  Hope to get it bound today..........

Now off to fix lunch............

Let Us Try Again

I know I have been remiss in posting but time has a way of disappearing here...

Once again I will get caught up and try to post at least three times a week.....

The Guild is having a fall celebration and I was asked to make the part favors........  Here they are....Twenty five sunflower pincushions...........  Low on crushed walnut shares now so no more pincushions right away.........

Went outside and gathered some flowers before Matthew came to blow them away............

Donna came with my groceries and a surprise for me.......  Lovely flowers to enjoy in the house and plant in the yard to enjoy for years to come.

Grand son in law Matthew helped us get ready for the hurricane Matthew...........  My family and friends make life possible.....  They shop for us and do things I cannot get out to do myself......

Lem and I would be lost without them.

Seems the porch is closed for the season.......

I have Hospice coming now and that provides some needed assistance........  Not much time to sew but I try to fit in a few minutes each day.........

Last week was difficult because so many roads were underwater........  Much devastation in this area....  Personal friends that have lost everything..........  Not all the water gone yet but at least it is no longer rising........

Progress

I have enjoyed stitching this quilt.......  My favorite kind of thing........

This part was the quickest to stitch........

But now I am in the small pieces to sew together and it is taking longer.......  Only seven more blocks to go........  I can usually get two stitched a day so maybe a couple more weeks and this will be ready to quilt............

Progress

Section two is complete.............  Now on to the last section...  Top left blocks use 4 1/2 inch blocks to make the 8 1/2 inch block........

Section two blocks are made up of 2 1/2 inch squares..........

Section three will comprise  blocks made up of 1 1/2 inch squares...........  That might take as long as what I have already done.....

l

I stacked the unused squares in the back of the drawer.......  The front has 2 1/2 inch strips that could be cut into squares.......  The center has larger pieces of leftover binding.........  These could be used to bind mini quilts...........

This is binding pieces that were short.......  I plan to sew them together to bind the scrap quilt that I am making........

Here are the 1 1/2 inch squares and strips for the next section.  In the drawer was a sketch of blocks to use these small pieces.......  Maybe that will be my next leader/ender project.

Lem's barium swallow went well.........  They recommended that he not use a straw as it causes him to aspirate....

I am now putting his food in the food processor to chop it into small pieces.......   Meals take longer to prepare and small bites make it take longer for him to eat but it seems to be keeping him from choking.

Whatever it takes we will do to keep him healthy.

Temecula Quilt Company

Temecula Quilt Company has their own Olympics going for quilters.........

Peg sent a package with fabric scraps.....  Peg has the best fabric scraps........  They were just the thing to use to dive into the latest project from Temecula Quilt Company.  (located HERE)....

Some days I can find an hour or two to sew before I start the house blessing.....

Lem had his Botox  treatment yesterday and it seems to be helping............

On the Needles Friday

Judy at Patchwork Times showed a picture of a sweater she was knitting for Addie..........  Loved the pattern.  Had to try it myself...........  Made the pink sweater for a neighbors child and the two multi colored ones for a dear friends granddaughters..........

The buttons on the multi sweaters are perfect and have a bit of sparkle in the center..........

Lem and I are going out and about today.  He needs a haircut and we need groceries...........  Hope we don't get too hot..............

Check out Patchwork times and you might find your next project.  HERE

Day Two

No sewing yesterday........  Angie was here and that always keeps me on the hop......

Lorin, the speech therapist came for a couple of hours.....  She is ordering a barium swallow test for Lem.....

This is all in an effort to keep him from getting pneumonia again due to aspiration........

I have also started feeding him......  That helps make sure eats slowly and the bites are small..............

This morning I found time to complete two more rows........  Now only two to go......  Then to assemble the sashing between the rows............  Maybe tomorrow I can finish the last two rows.

Even found fabric for backing...............  Hope it will be enough for both quilts..........

Today we are off to Ayden for lunch at Bum's, pick out a frame from Happy's and do the grocery shopping.....

Hope you have a good day.

Design Wall Monday

While looking for something upstairs last week I found the box of blocks that Rebekah and I made years ago.......

Decided that would be next even though there is a lot of other things on the list......  This shouldn't take too long..........

We each made 24 blocks which will give me two quilts......  Half of the blocks in each quilt were made by Rebekah and the other half I made.

When they are finished Kate will have a quilt that we both worked on and I will enjoy the other one.

Now off to press the first set of blocks and get them trimmed............

Check out Patchwork times for more inspiration......  HERE
