You know they will work, but they will be bright and vibrant. The quilt in the picture is subdued, almost faded looking-like its been in someones family for ages. Is it the pattern you like, or the feeling the quilt provides? That is how I would decide whether to use what I have or buy more.
I think you are being very good not rushing out to buy more fabric. As Gail says - what look arae you aiming for? It certainly looks nice in the photo.
I agree with all your "girls"! If you are looking for the worn look...your deep and brighter tones won't provide that and you might be disappointed...however with keeping a warmer background and backing (like a cream/ivory) it would help.
Otherwise could the fabric be a Christmas present? For You?
Be truthful with that though and stick to it!
The quilt is beautiful!
Your desire to decorate the whole house is lovely! My Grams has done this very thing for over 50 years...
This will be her last year to do it..over 19 trees...each of them decorator quality...
even the bathrooms and halls get decor..
all normal everyday pictures on the wall get replaced with Christmas...all towels, bedding in her master for certain...even throw rugs!
They used to go all out outside also but with age it's become too difficult!
I love this pattern as well! Would it be possible for you to relay to me the magazine, etc. so I could possibly obtain a copy of the pattern as well!? I have so many fabrics in mind for it already! Many many thanks!
PS. Moda has a beautiful line called Maison de Noel which I think may be suitable if you are looking for some iteresting reds and greens! Dale
I think the fabrics you already have will work well!

ReplyDeleteIt will work perfectly! If you want the colors more subdued, tea dye the whole thing when you are finished.
