Design Wall Monday

While looking for something upstairs last week I found the box of blocks that Rebekah and I made years ago.......

Decided that would be next even though there is a lot of other things on the list......  This shouldn't take too long..........

We each made 24 blocks which will give me two quilts......  Half of the blocks in each quilt were made by Rebekah and the other half I made.

When they are finished Kate will have a quilt that we both worked on and I will enjoy the other one.

Now off to press the first set of blocks and get them trimmed............

Little and Often

With limited time to stitch I try to work in several things each day........... 

I don't remember just when I started this top but I am happy to say that it is ready to send to the quilter..............

I brought a armful of fabric downstairs this week and found the perfect piece for the binding...........  It has all the colors in it that are in the quilt.........  Ordered the backing from Thousands of Bolts.....  When that arrives I can deliver it to a friend that will pass it along to Lilly, our long arm quilter.

I have been looking at the graph for this for several years.........  Last year I began to gather together the thread and fabric............. Finally had the graph enlarged and began to stitch.
It is ready for the framer now............  I am making it for Lemuel..........

HAPPY'S

When Jean was here we made a trip to Happy's.

While there I came home with another chair for the porch......  I have always liked wicker and this was priced right.............

Design Wall Monday

Before the quilt display, let me introduce the latest ducklings.....  One dark, one light, and four yellow.  The yellow ones are Peking ducks..........  All have the same mother but the male Peking duck spends all of his time chasing other ducks.......  The female Peking duck is sitting on a nest now....  Anxiously awaiting the hatching............

Now on to the quilt.........  One of the challenge quilts for the Guild this December..........  Now to layer, quilt, bind and label..............

Recently

a fellow blogger posted a finish.  A lovely pillow embroidery by Crab Apple Hill.  I inquired on the provenance of the design and was offered my choice of the pattern or the finished piece......

I chose the piece as I knew that as much a I would like to think otherwise there is limited sewing time now and I would not get it done.........

When it arrived I just happened to have a pillow insert that was the perfect size.  Isn't it lovely.

Thank you Sunny for this lovely gift.

I recently spoke to a friend from Cape Cod........  Peg often shared her scraps with me.  I have two quilts completed from the time she gave me a large container of her greens because the bin was too full........  I mentioned that I missed getting these lovely fabrics and she sent me a care package that included 1 1/2" strips and squares........  Also included was a stack of charms...............

She even sent two quilting books that have some great designs..........  Now I am planning my next Leader/Ender project.........

Design Wall Monday

Several weeks ago I started making this kit from Temecula Quilt Co.  The pattern can be found free HERE

Everything cut out and ready to sew.......  It stayed that way for days...........  Caretaking consumes most of my day but I do manage to fit a few things in occasionally.

Finally done..............  Simply delightful...........

At last I finished My Scrap Basket..............  I am delighted with how it finished...................

Father's Day

The family came over on Father's day for a little cooking out.........

Porch

Finally got the porch cleaned and ready for the summer..........

All flower arrangements are by Donna.......

A few friends come over each Friday night for a couple of hours just to catch up on what is happening to all of us..............

House plants become porch plants during the summer.........

This arrangement has already moved somewhere else.  Things are always changing.

There Have Been Complaints

I haven't blogged lately and there have been complaints......... 

Today just three to start...................

After work one day Jason came over with Andrew to fish........    Every boy should go fishing with their grandfather.......

That was als the day I tried the Lemon Cakes........  They were delicious................  Thank you King Arthur Flour............

And last is the big bird on the grape vine post........  It is called a turkey buzzard and is one ugly bird.....   It has a tiny red head on that large body......  There are several in the area.........

Things are Blooming

My Snake Plant is doing well and is blooming......  I am amazed everyday that some of my plants are still alive......  It is only recently that I could actually keep a plant alive.

I have re potted this plant one time and will not have to do it again for some time.

The Gardenia at the end of the ramp.......  This year it is covered with blossoms..........

Jean gave us an Easter Lily several years ago.  I put it outside after it stopped blooming and it has bloomed every year since.  It has been divided and now there are several in this flower bed.

Lots of grand things growing.

Design Wall Monday

Judy at Patchwork Times hosts Design Wall Monday.    Be careful you will probably see something you have to make NOW...

My Scrap Basket is finally layered and I have begun quilting it.  I became tired of knitting so it was put aside for a few days.........

Picked up this and began the quilting.  I started at the bottom and I have completed up to the pen I clipped to the left side.

Moved the pillow a wee bit and got a picture of the birds on the front porch.

The Porch

Last Saturday we took a road trip to the new Hobby Lobby in our area.

Donna and Terry went with us with the goal of purchasing yarn to make a few sweaters for little girls in our lives.......

We also purchased a few flowers for arrangements for the porch.

You can't see the container but it is a red metal container.......  Donna is so gifted in making these lovely arrangements.

 I saw some Japanese lanterns that brought back memories of my garden on the Cape.  They were a must.....

The little table came home with us too.......  

Light and airy......  Just like summer....

A few of the plants have been re-potted  but there more to be moved into new containers......

The Hydrangea from Georgina and Chuck........  That will go in the yard later this  

 year.

Furniture arranged for sitting and talking on summer evenings.

Roses from Sheila.  She grew them.  The red one is really a deep velvety red.

Now I know that I must have a rose garden and I know exactly where to place it.......

Now to the front porch......  The milk can was from an auction years ago.  Behind the pillow in the chair on the left is a nest with five wee sparrows........

Donna added a few silk geraniums to the ferns on the front porch......  I really must remember to water them more often.

An arrangement for the table on the back porch.  We also bought that table last Saturday.  I filled their car so Donna and I had to ride with that table between us on the way home.

Another arrangement for the coffee table......  Terry cut a board to repair the top.  Then it will be painted black......

I passed out the last of the Madelines......  Terry was going inside for something and Fleming asked him to take her hands and wash them since they had sugar on them from the Madelines.

Out he comes with paper towels.  One wet to wash and one to dry.  We sat and talked for about an hour and had a grand evening.....

On the Needles Friday

I saw this sweater HERE.  Judy was making it for her granddaughter.  You can find the link on her post.  I have to give Lem the computer in 5 minutes and need to finish this post first.

 Found the yarn at Hobby Lobby last Saturday and began.  Knitting time is now limited to an hour, maybe two each evening by which time my mind is mush.

Being me, I bought yarn for six sweaters as I know six little girls that could use a sweater.
