A Finish

At long last I have finished something......  This wee sweater for my stash of baby gifts.  Now my stash consist of one completed item.  There is another sweater that just needs a collar to be complete and I have yarn for one more.....

Before I start the next sweater I will finish quilting the April Lori Smith  from Keepsake Quilts.

I am two rows behind on my Mrs. Holder but I should catch up soon.

Then on to the applique for the quilt along.........

No machine sewing lately.  I had planned to stitch five cross stitch Chrismons for my tree in December.

Well, I have five done.  I try to give it 45 minutes each morning but that is not always possible.

As PSP takes its toll Lem can do less and less..........  Just glad to have him as long as I can.

A Day Out

Thanks to our good friends of many years, Donna and Terry, we were able to go to the Shad Festival yesterday.

That brought back memories of times past except we were in our hey day and went at night for the dance....  Streets were closed off and a band was installed on a flat bed trailer loaned by a local hauling company.  The music was of course then Country and Shag was the dance......

That was more years ago than I want to reveal but we came away with memories to remember now that we are to tired at night to shag.........

We left home about 11:00 and headed to Grifton......  Forgot the parade was at that time so we went to Spring Fling at Happy's instead......

They were having a big sale and we never want to miss a sale at Happy's..................

Terry and Lem found a place to rest by the refreshment table while Donna and I feathered our nest....  I found some  great things for gifts at Christmas....  Maybe I will get them done this year..  Time will tell.

Then we went back to Grifton.............  Funnel Cakes.........  Hot dogs......Thai food........BBQ.....sausage dogs........More food than I can remember........

Lots of people enjoying a fine day among friends......

Unbelievably we had just arrived when we met Jason and Kim.....  Even got to see the grands and wee grands.......

Small town America.........  These dedicated local civic leaders have a real grasp of what a budget means and makes the most of the funds they oversee........

Found Miss Grifton in the crowd and she was glad to have her picture taken........

In spite of the attention of the beauty queen Lem was glad to go home with he queen of our castle... ME....

Found a vendor selling steamed oysters........  One of Lem's great favorites is oysters so we got steamed ones to bring home.....

Did I mention that we were in bed by nine?

Little Progress

I took two extra blocks and made a small pincushion to put in this small box from Temecula Quilt Co.

Her husband makes them and they are so sweet........  This holds the tools needed for my applique so they are not all over the table.

Fleming came over on Saturday and mowed our lawn...  It was cold so she was all wrapped up.

Did not have enough brown hexagons ready to finish that row so I started the next row......  This is going to take a LONG TIME.....

Two more pieces to stitch on the applique and this will be ready to layer...........

Busy day yesterday....  Took Lemuel out and that is always a chore.......  We were in bed by 9:30 we were so tired.......
