A Thing or Two

At long last I have pressed and wrapped the gift for our neighbor's new baby (born in April)...

And one of Jean's socks is finished.........

And I made this little scarf that is supposed to block at almost twice the size it is now......  Time will tell....  Before I block it I need to clear the design wall because that is where I pin them to dry.......

So after much procrastination I am starting the T shirt quilt for Georgina..........  I hope to get at least one row assembled today.......

And start Jean's second sock this afternoon.

Me Again.....

Hopefully next week I can get back on schedule........  It appears now that I have no appointments for next week and Lem and I are looking forward to a quiet week at home together......

Time will tell how well that works for us.......

Finished the last of the red yarn.............Hurray..............

Finished the smocked dress........  Now I need to press it, wrap it and deliver it.......  Perhaps today....

I like this design and will use it again.......

Began Jean's socks.......  One half done..........  I found a pattern to try......  I think it is time for me to move forward and try a few different things with socks...........  It is good for the mind to keep learning..

Finished the last of one skein of the green yarn from Katie.....  Two adult hats and two for children......

I did cast on another one in another color to be ready in case someone drops in and I can knit it while we chat............

Now off to add a few more rows to Jean's sock.......

Picture of an Oxymoron

ox·y·mo·ron
ˌäksəˈmôrˌän/
noun
noun: oxymoron; plural noun: oxymorons
a figure of speech in which apparently contradictory terms appear in conjunction.

I get teased a bit because when we get together I do not use paper plates......

I have about a dozen desert plates that belonged to my mother and we use them daily.....  I am not trying to save the ecology but it is easy for me to use them and put them in the dishwasher.  I use real plates for meals for the same reason....  I just prefer them to disposable.....

Susan pointed out that the china plate with a real fork did not exactly go with the bottle of water with a pink John Deere cover.........  Oh Well.........  such is life.........

Small group this Tuesday......  Susan, Georgina and Marilyn..........  Fleming came in later but I had already taken the picture.....

Thought about what evening project I wanted to do next..........  I have wanted to make Jean's socks..  She bought the yarn last year and I want her to have warm feet this winter.....  Finally got out the swift and ball winder to prep the hank of yarn......

Now to pick the pattern I want to use...........  Something special for Jean.........

A Finish or Two.....

At long last the GFG is finished.........  The last stitch complete.....  And now I have it on my bed.......

I plan to move it to the guest room later but for a bit I will enjoy it myself....

It took ten years from start to finish but much happened in between stitches..............

I also completed my contribution for Fleming's shower......  The letters will be hung over the table with the gifts with a ribbon..........

Now on to finishing the smocked dress for Summer.........

Week Two

Still a few weeks behind but hope to catch up...........

Week two is complete, now on to week three.

The bottom left block does not match the picture because the Block Tool used dark corner pieces and the one in the picture has light corner pieces..........

Oh well, it is MY Quilt.......  So I am calling that a design decision..........

Moving Right Along

Border on both table runners.......  I ordered the thread to quilt them with.......  Not sure about the quilting part.....  I am not good at machine quilting but I will garner more experience with this project.......

Block one of four on Week Two is complete........

and block two is cut out and ready to assemble tomorrow morning.............

Next up will be the banner and table runner for Fleming as it has a deadline.......

A Thing or Two

Jason came today to help with a few things........  He put this shelf over the washer and dryer for me...  Yes, I do know it is not centered......  It is where I wanted it to be..........

Add a few things and it looks so nice.......  My Tide Pods are in one canister and the Oxyclean is in another one....  Handy and it has show quality.......  The small lamp will be replaced as soon as I find one I like better......

A shelf near the floor in the pantry for my recipe notebooks.........  He also installed a door stop on the back door and the curtain rods for the dining room.......  I had purchased them several years ago and now that they are up maybe I will actually make the curtains.......

More sewing on the table runner that I knew would take No Time......  Silly me.....

I had enough fabric strips from the original runner to make two more stars and did not want to waste them.....  That meant making another set of small stars.....  One set still not quite complete........

Now to add the border, layer, quilt, and bind........  We shall see.........

I have finished quilting the flowers on my GFG and most of the border.......  I should be ready to sew the binding on tomorrow........

Week One....

Okay, so week four has been posted and I am behind but I do think I can catch up if all goes well here....

Two of four complete.....

Then all four done.......

Still working on the Lemoyne Star table runner........

Right now I need to get to work on the house blessing.......  Jason is supposed to come over to fix a few things for me.............

Rabbit Trail

The Love of Quilting magazine came and there was one table runner that caught my eye......

Remember, nothing is as easy as it looks........

I happened to have some fabric in the studio from other projects that were just the thing for this project.......

And here is my first star using my Rapid Fire star tool.........

Maybe I can get the top completed and add this to the list of unfinished table runners.........

Catching Up

This summer we invested in some help with the yard work.....

I had brick left over from building and planned to use them to mark flower beds and edge all around the house.....  Finally realized that I would never get it done on my own and found someone to assist..........

The entire front is edged and we moved the nandinas to the back making the front neater.........

The knockout roses are doing well on the front so I added a row of them to the side to cover the heat pump and give some color to that side.

The pecan tree that Marie gifted me is growing well.........

This is the back with the nandinas and they also trained the jasmine to go up the side...  I am hoping that one day it will cover the pergola.....

This is my focal point in the back yard......  The colors don't show well in this picture.....  It is a mixture of perennials and annuals to give color all season..........  I could add some mums in the fall and pansies in January........

A spot of color on the corner....  The jasmine on this side grows much better......

Doesn't the brick look nice....  It keeps the mulch from coming out when we get rain........

A touch of color by the garage door........

This is the damage I did to Rebekah's car when I turned into the driveway ...............
