Judy over at Patchwork Times has written about
"Acceptable Treatment."And don't we all know that how we are treated is directly related to how management perceives their customers.....
Listen up folks. Times are hard right now. We have less money to pass around so I will be spending mine in places that appreciate it. I learned from my brother to speak up and call people on their bad behavior. Might not do them much good but I sure feel better.
If I were a writer I would write a book on dumb things we are told by companies just to get us to leave them alone.
Let me begin with the 'Just how Important Are You?". Years ago it was impossible to find a Doctor that was taking new patients. What you were supposed to do to become a patient I was never sure but................. A friend of mine needed to see a gynecologist. She was new to the area and was having a problem. She had just gotten a job as the Administrative Assistant to the new Hospital Administrator. Simple, she calls the Dr of her choice and says " I am --- . the secretary to --- and need an appointment. No problem says the receptionist. We can see you any day next week. She explains to her boss that she will need to be out of the office one afternoon for the appointment. He says, "Well, my wife has been trying to get an appointment for weeks so I know how important they are. How long did you have to wait for this one?" " Just a few days " she replies, "I told them I was your Administrative Assistant and the made an appointment for me right away."
Other dumb things women are told.
A co-worker finally saved enough for Central Air Conditioning. After it was installed and the temperature began to climb, she closed the windows to her house and turned it one. Just to get hotter and hotter and hotter. Calls the company. Someone comes out to check the unit. All is well, no problem here EXCEPT the house is not getting cooler. Repairman says, "Well after all, air conditioning is only supposed to lower the temperature in your home 10 degrees. "
Do the math, it is 100 outside so you turn on your air conditioner to keep the inside 90 degrees.
After much complaining and calling and a hissy fit or two, they discover that the ducts were put under the house but NEVER CONNECTED.

At one time we had goats as pets. Well, we lived out in the country and had lots of room for them to clear....... We spent two weeks trying to figure out how they were getting out of the electric fence and the spent the next two weeks trying to figure out how to get out again.
After we moved here, our son lived in our house. In the past our water bill was about $8.00 a month. He calls one day to say his water bill was $78.00. That is impossible. There was no swimming pool................ If that much water had been used it would have turned the yard to mire. Especially in the back where the septic system would have been leaching all that water.
I called the water company and a they assured me that the bill was accurate. BUT they would send someone out to check. Hang on to your hat now for the punch line. The representative of the Water Company representative told my son that the Goats must have turned on the outside faucet and left it running. When he asked why he never saw the faucet running when he came home the Water Company representative said that they turned it off before he got home so he would not know what they did. Are we really supposed to believe this?
Don't get me started on our local gas company. A couple of years ago they replaced our meter. Seems that the one we had was not working. Had not worked correctly for 6 months. We realized that they continued to estimate the reading and did not provide an actual reading but it is their business to know how to handle these things.
New meter installed..........Next bill comes. $800.00 for one month......... NO WAY..... I call.
It seems that the battery in the old meter had gone bad and it took the 6 months to replace it but according to the gas company, I should have known that their meter was not working and called them to tell them........... The high bill was caused by the gas man writing down the wrong starting number. That was easy to figure because when I finally got someone there to look at the meter it read lower that what they said the starting figure was.
Now I spent MY time on the phone calling and trying to reason with people that are totally out to lunch. Go Figure.
Anyone else out there have one of these wonderful stories?
